Many American lawyers are actively exploring possible scenarios for lifting sanctions against Russia and much of the preparatory work has been completed, the British magazine The Economist reported, citing Patrick Lord, head of the consulting firm Risk Advisory.
According to Lord, many American lawyers began working overtime last summer to explore possible scenarios for lifting anti-Russian sanctions after US President Donald Trump put pressure on Ukraine to be ready for talks. Much of the preparatory work has already been completed, the magazine notes.
At the same time, The Economist writes that Europe will lift sanctions against Russia “with great reluctance“, but acknowledges that Trump may be able to influence the Europeans' decision.
