Tour operators “Bohemia” and “Abax” are organizing a charter from Dubai to bring their groups home from there with the stranded Bulgarian tourists.
The flight will take place tomorrow, March 7, 2026, with the national carrier “Bulgaria Air”, Bayko Baykov, owner and manager of “Bohemia”, announced for TravelNews. The plane has 180 seats and will be fully paid for by the tour operators, who will share the funds, he said.
“I want to emphasize that we pay for the charter, and it is not at the expense of the state and taxpayers”, added Georgi Pasev, manager of “Abax”. According to him, the state has refused to organize a flight for the tour operators, which they would pay for. The goal was to get the flight permits faster.
This is the third plane that tour operators themselves pay for to evacuate tourists. There are still tourists in Dubai from other agencies, who are currently trying to board them on the flights of the airline Fly Dubai, which has restored the regular line to Sofia. Wizz Air has canceled its flights on the route until March 16.
The government has sent another large plane to bring back Bulgarian citizens from Dubai, which is expected to land in Sofia at around 3:30 a.m. The flight is operated by Bulgarian airline GullivAir, which sent its Airbus A330-203 with 326 seats on board.
