Over 800 million euros in foreign direct investments in Bulgaria for the first two months of the current year. This is twice as much as in the same period in 2025. “Over the past decades, Bulgaria has established itself as a competitive investment destination, the quality of investments has increased and more and more projects are creating high added value“, said Acting Executive Director of the Bulgarian Investment Agency (BIA) Angel Ivanov, at the official 20th anniversary ceremony “Investor of the Year“.
Our country attracts investors with institutional support, a stable macroeconomic environment, a favorable tax system and human capital.
Today, the priority areas of the Bulgarian economy are: manufacturing industry, information and communication technologies, research and development, education.
President Iliana Yotova called on investors to have the ambition to build on what has been achieved, and "we will try to create the conditions for this".
"We live in difficult times and an extremely turbulent period. In this very risky and unfavorable environment, you must be flexible enough to not only preserve your investment, but also to be able to look to the future and develop your business. This requires many qualities - ambition, professionalism, sense, flair and a good attitude towards the people you work with,“ said the president.
Iotova recalled that Bulgaria is one of the six EU countries to which the European Commission has entrusted the construction of one of the gigafactories in Europe and called for the facility to be built, along with the adjacent infrastructure, so that Bulgaria can become a regional leader.

The “Investor of the Year“ 2026 award went to BTL Industries. The company received the grand prize for the investment made in Plovdiv of 51 million EUR in 2025 and the creation of over 700 jobs.
The winner in the category “Green Investment“ is “Intuitive Surgical Bulgaria“ with their investment of 42 million EUR in the town of Parvomay and over 170 new jobs created.
The award in the category “Human Capital“ was received by the company “Aero Technika BG“ for their investment in Sofia and specifically in “Vasil Levski” airport; of 15.850 million EUR and the creation of 125 new jobs.
The leader in the category “Investment in business expansion“ is “Nestle Bulgaria“ for the company's investment in Sofia of 44.630 million EUR and the creation of 119 new jobs.
The distinction in the category “Innovative Business“ goes to “Festo Bulgaria“ for an investment in Sofia, Smolyan and Gabrovo of 40 million EUR and 140 new jobs.
