Aeronautics corporation Boeing reaches preliminary agreement on wage hikes with protesting workers to end strike, which continues since September, reports newspaper The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

The agreement with the union includes a 35% pay increase for employees over four years. Boeing had earlier offered a 25 percent wage increase, but union representatives rejected the deal.

The agreement is expected to be put to a union vote on October 23. To approve an agreement that could end the strike, more than half of union members must vote for it.

In September, 33,000 workers at Boeing factories went on strike after rejecting the company's offer of a wage increase. In October, the company's CEO Kelly Ortberg said that Boeing, amid the company's difficult situation, intends to reduce its workforce by 10%, thereby putting about 17,000 Boeing employees under threat of layoffs.
