Bulgarian industry is beginning to transform towards production with high added value. The trend is particularly pronounced in the production of computer equipment, electronics and optics, according to an analysis of the Institute for Market Economy, cited by BNR.
These are also the sectors that attract the greatest employment.
Productions with high added value in recent years have tripled compared to 2015.
There is a marked growth in the sectors with higher mechanization and automation, which are also better integrated in the European and international value added chains.
The economists' conclusion refers to data from a report by the Professional Association for Robotics, Automation and Innovation for the year 2023.
The high technology sector also comes out ahead with the high added value per employee. According to "Eurostat" data, in computer and communication technology labor productivity is 39,000 euros per employee per year, in the production of basic metals - 42,000 euros, and in the chemical industry - 48,000 euros. For comparison, experts point to sectors such as the production of clothing and furniture, where productivity only reaches between 9,000 and 13,000 euros.
High-tech industries also attract the most employees - with an average annual growth of 8 percent. There is also a significant difference in pay - three times higher average costs in computer technology, compared to the production of clothing and furniture.
