US President Donald Trump pays too much attention to the introduction of new import tariffs and is literally obsessed with them, forgetting about the fight against rising prices in the country. This is evidenced by the data from a poll conducted by the television company CBS and the public opinion research institute YouGov.
According to the survey, 61% of respondents believe that Trump is too focused on the introduction of tariffs, and 70% believe that the president does not pay enough attention to the policy of reducing prices. Only 5% of respondents are convinced that the head of the Washington administration could pay even more attention to tariffs, and 6% believe that he is doing enough to fight rising prices. At the same time, 33% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the current administration's tariff policy, and 24% - with the price policy.
60% of respondents said they do not support the introduction of new tariffs by Washington, 40% spoke in favor of this step. 64% of Americans are dissatisfied with how the Trump administration is fighting inflation - this figure has increased from 61% in June and 54% in May.
In addition, the same 60% of respondents do not approve of the adoption of the government spending bill, which provides for tax cuts and an increase in the debt ceiling, signed by Trump in early July. 47% of respondents believe that the new law will have a negative impact on their families. The majority are convinced that the bill will hurt poor Americans and the middle class and benefit the rich. The document, developed at the initiative of the administration in Washington, which Trump calls “a big beautiful bill“, provides for significant tax cuts and government spending in a number of areas. At the same time, it suggests an increase in defense spending, in particular for the creation of the “Golden Dome” missile defense system. It also includes measures to tighten border control, and also provides for an increase in spending in this area.
