A medical helicopter transported a 63-year-old man injured in a domestic accident from the Yambol regional hospital “St. Panteleimon“ to the capital's “Sofiyamed“, dariknews.bg reported.
This is the first case in Yambol in which the emergency medical care system by air was activated, the local state medical facility reported.
The man was admitted to the emergency department of the Yambol hospital with an amputated arm, as a result of an accident at home while cutting wood. After stabilizing the victim's condition, the hospital team, in coordination with the Ministry of Health, the Emergency Medical Care Center and “Bulgaria Heli Med Service“, took action to transport the patient with a specialized medical helicopter.
The helicopter landed at the city stadium in Yambol at 1:30 p.m., from where the patient was successfully boarded and transported to the capital's University Hospital “Sofiamed“, where he will undergo surgery, informed the Yambol hospital. “This is the first case for Yambol in which air ambulance is used. The situation showed how valuable and necessary this rapid response system is in severe incidents“, the hospital team emphasized.
