The man who led the country's public finances to collapse still can't understand what he did…. But when the facts speak, even Asen Vassilev must remain silent.
This was written on her personal Facebook page by the Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova, who commented on today's statement by the chairman of "We continue the change" Asen Vassilev on the sidelines of the parliament. Here is what else she shared:
"First of all, it is important to remember that Asen Vassilev is the Minister of Finance, who does not have a single State Budget Law that he has drawn up and implemented. Either someone makes the budget for him or someone implements it for him, but never him.
And here is the truth about Asen Vassilev's budget “ surpluses”:
•For 2021:
Budget balance according to the report of the “General Government” sector - deficit - 3.9% of GDP or - 5,474.3 million BGN;
* 2022:
Budget balance according to the report of the sector “General Government”- deficit - 2.9% of GDP or - 4,856.0 million BGN;
* 2023:
Budget balance according to the report of the sector “General Government”- deficit - 2.0% of GDP or - 3,709.1 million BGN;
• 2024:
Budget balance according to the report of the sector “General Government”- deficit - 3.0% of GDP or - 6,158.2 million BGN.

I hear that now Assen Vassilev is very concerned about the deficit at the end of July 2025. But… let him not forget that in 2025 we pay his old bills, and the effects of his actions in previous years, which he is well aware of but simply does not feel like commenting…", come to light.
