The Municipal Council in Plovdiv adopted an Ordinance on the creation of zones with low emissions of harmful substances in the atmospheric air on the territory of the municipality of Plovdiv. The item caused a long discussion and many proposals, statements and remarks. According to the proposal, there are two designated zones - a small and a large ring or the so-called Center and the Wide Center of the City, to prohibit the movement of cars with environmental groups 1, 2 and 3 from October 1 to April 30, 2026.
The item on the agenda for the municipality of Plovdiv to apply with a project proposal "Measures to improve the quality of atmospheric air and reduce PM emissions by building and introducing low-emission zones from transport on the territory of the municipality of Plovdiv" was also approved under a procedure through direct provision of non-repayable financial assistance "Low-emission zones from transport" under priority 5 "Air" under the "Environment" Program 2021-2027.
The municipal councilors in Plovdiv, with one vote, approved 13 privately owned municipal apartments included in the "Rental Accommodation" Fund to be sold to tenants. The proposal to combine these 13 agenda items into one vote was made by municipal councilor Stefan Poslijki from "United for Plovdiv".
The Annual Summary Report on the Results of the Activities in 2024 of Municipal Public Enterprises that are Not Medical Institutions was voted on. With 30 votes "in favor" the Report on the Implementation of the Budget of the Municipality of Plovdiv for 2024 was adopted. With 41 votes "in favor" Information on the implementation of the Municipality's budget and the accounts for funds from the European Union as of June 30 this year for the revenue and expenditure part of the budget was also voted on.
A proposal was also voted on to provide funds in the amount of 300,000 leva in the budget of the Plovdiv Municipality for 2026 for the preparation of a phytosanitary assessment of the tree vegetation on the territory of the districts in the city. Before the vote on the item, the Mayor of Plovdiv Kostadin Dimitrov expressed his opinion that the proposal was good and that there was a need to examine the city's green system.
