A total of 150 bottles of laughing gas were seized from an improvised open-air disco in a schoolyard in Nedelino. The information was confirmed to BTA by Elena Stoilova - spokesperson for the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Smolyan. The police operation was carried out on September 7-8 - after the National Folklore Festival for Two-part Singing in the city. The nitrous oxide was found behind the bar, distributed in 5 boxes of 30 bottles, with a capacity of 600 grams each. The case was not mentioned in the police bulletin until today.

A notification letter has been sent to the prosecutor's office for the initiation of an investigation into the case, Smolyan District Prosecutor Tatyana Naydenova told BTA. She added that the supervising prosecutor has also ordered a second investigation under the Judicial Power Act following an anonymous report sent to the state prosecution by people claiming to be police officers connected to the discovery of the nitrous oxide.

The disco was organized in the yard of the school in Nedelino, with the terrain - municipal property - rented by Anton Danailov - manager of “Danailov 97“ EOOD, whose company sells snacks and coffee, Nedelino Mayor Boyan Kehayov told BTA. Last year, the company also organized an open disco in the school yard. Regarding the police operation and the large quantity of nitrous oxide discovered, Kehayov said that he had no information.

The Chairman of the Municipal Council in Nedelino, Veselin Kehayov ("DPS - Novo nachlacho") indicated to BTA that they were trying to frame his son Daniel, who was a bartender at the disco and was listed in the anonymous tip as the owner of the psychoactive substance. “He has nothing to do with nitrous oxide. My son agreed to help his friend with the disco and received payment for the work he did. The bottles are not his. Everything is on a political basis“, said Kehayov.

The owner of the disco, Anton Danailov, stated to BTA that he is the owner of the boxes of nitrous oxide and has handed them over to the police with a report. “I was thinking of selling them because last year I was selling them freely. But now, when they told me how big the fines were, I gave up and the boxes remained unopened“, added Danailov.
