The National Assembly is considering today in first reading a draft law amending the Statistics Act.
We recall that at its regular meeting, held on September 10, the Committee on Economic Policy and Innovations considered and submitted for public discussion a Draft Law amending the Statistics Act.
The bill proposes that the National Assembly elect the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson of the National Statistical Institute. In this way, publicity and transparency of the election are ensured, and compliance with the procedure under Art. 89 of the Rules of Procedure for the Organization and Activities of the National Assembly, with clearly stated requirements for candidates for the position.
The amendment to the law, submitted by Alexander Koychev Ivanov from GERB-SDF and a group of MPs, was adopted with 9 votes "for", 4 "against" and two voted "abstain".
Parliamentary Control
Today's session also includes parliamentary control pursuant to Art. 92 - 104 of the Rules of Procedure for the Organization and Activities of the National Assembly. This is a regular procedure that allows MPs to ask questions to ministers and demand reports on the activities of the executive branch.
