On October 23, the proposal of the mayor of Sofia Vasil Terziev to regulate parking in the city was submitted, there is also a second report, which is on “Save Sofia”. The Sofia Municipal Council will vote on the proposals at the end of October or the beginning of November. Such deadlines were allowed by the municipal councilor from VMRO Carlos Contrera.
He explained that the parking prices have not been updated for a long time, but he did not receive an answer as to what the goal is. On “Live Day” Contrera pointed out that in his opinion the goal of the increase should lead to more free parking spaces. He added that there are differences between the two reports in the sanctions for violators - one proposal is 120 leva, and the other 150 leva. The councilor summarized that this fine should be increased as much as possible.
Carlos Contrera emphasized that the proposals do not include a solution for electric cars, because entire streets with parking spaces are filled with electric cars, which does not allow others to use these parking spaces. He pointed out that in VMRO they see two solutions: Those that belong to individuals should remain in the current regime, and those of legal entities - should pay according to the general procedure or everyone should pay, but a lower fee.
According to the municipal councilor, the rules for institutions in the “Official Subscription” regime should be reconsidered and they should be limited, because in his opinion they are being abused.
Regarding parking zones, Contrera is convinced that Sofia residents should be asked about such key issues.
