The measures taken by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, in terms of dealing with the water shortage in Pleven, are the possible ones at the moment, such as technical solutions, compliance with laws, such as deadlines for announcing public procurement. They are adequate enough. This was stated by the Minister of Environment, Manol Genov, quoted by BTA.
The Minister of Environment and Water took part in the meeting of the Regional Crisis Headquarters for the water shortage in Pleven. According to him, the measures are not quick, citizens must be patient. According to him, the problems have been accumulating for years and are not being solved in one day. Genov pointed out that there has been a drought in the last four years and the expectations are that next year will be like that too.
He stressed that the drama in Pleven is extremely great. The Minister of Environment noted that it is difficult at such a moment for the manager and the decision-maker to make the most accurate decision, when experts start giving different advice. According to him, the Pleven water supply has been built in such a way over the years that it is dependent and multifunctional - drilling, "Cherni Osam", drainage of ditches and all this must work in order to have a result. Minister Genov called on the citizens of Pleven to be patient.
The total water balance of the water quantities supplied to Pleven is positive by about 50-60 liters per second, but there is still no sustainability to take steps to increase the hours of water supply and ease the regime, explained the Chairman of the Management Board of "Bulgarian Water and Sanitation Holding" Eng.
