Stefan Yanev: We have no topic of what we want to achieve as a society - 1

We are witnesses in our so-called political life of a reality show, in which there is a lot of noise. This was stated by former caretaker Prime Minister Stefan Yanev in the studio of "Denyat ON AIR".

"There are scandals - existing or invented, but there is no real dialogue. There is no real idea of how goals are set and how these goals are achieved by political means. This is something that, unfortunately for all of us citizens, we are probably already tired of watching as a performance. And we want some change, but it is not happening. Because we are offered more of the same", Yanev told Bulgaria ON AIR.

According to him, both the ruling and opposition parties equally contribute to this chaos. Instead of specific goals and responsibility for their achievement, the society receives continuous disputes and PR actions. Yanev gave an example of the lack of a national vision.

"Maybe if we go back 20 years, when it seemed that there was such an attitude in society - we want the European Union, we want NATO. Politicians had accepted this attitude - whether from society or they were imposed, it doesn't matter - but it seemed that there was agreement on the topic. And now we have no agreement on any topic," the former acting prime minister also said.

In his words, we have no topic of what we want to achieve as a society. He also commented on the idea that the security services should not be appointed by presidential decree.

"The services do not belong to the president, they do not belong to the parties, they do not belong to the political leaders. The services belong to the state. And the way in which we as a society, through our politicians, demonstrate to these services that the people who work in them are almost in some kind of conjuncture – who will appoint them, who will lead them, to whom will they be accountable", emphasized Yanev.

The guest warned about the risks of politicization and recalled that over the years there has often been talk about "domination" and using them as a "bat". When asked about early elections, Yanev said that he does not expect them immediately, but in the spring the situation may change.

The reason, according to him, is that from January the introduction of the euro will be used as an excuse for all the problems in the country.

"We have been waiting for the euro since January 1. And the euro will be to blame for everything. So far, let's say, the weather, nature, drought and everything else, which is somewhat objective, have been to blame. But we have never had a recognized human error, a political error. So the euro will be to blame," said Yanev.
