The situation is dangerous, we have seen the latest provocations. This was said in the program "Face to Face" on bTV by explosives expert and former Minister of Interior Valentin Radev in connection with the entry of drones, considered Russian, into the airspace of NATO countries.
We need to do something and the first signs have been given. There are funds under two European programs that need to be distributed. Of the 150 billion euros under the "Safe" program; 3.4 billion are for the wall against drones. NATO is preparing to defend the entire territory of the pact, he said, quoted by novini.bg.
Our country must, together with its NATO partners, protect itself from this aggression. All countries on the eastern flank must ensure that if there are provocations with drones, we first notice them early, ask them to withdraw, track them, control them and, if necessary, shoot them down, Radev pointed out.
We have dozens of enterprises that have been engaged in the production of drones for over 20 years. However, the state must invest money, develop this production and reformat it so that drones can be intercepted and shot down, the former interior minister added.
He explained that according to NATO standards, up to 150 kilograms are small, up to 600 kg are medium and over 600 kg are strategic. According to Valentin Radev, we must be especially careful if a strategic drone approaches our airspace, as it can carry a significant amount of explosives and cause serious damage.
Radev noted that NATO is not yet ready for a possible war with drones, adding that only Russia and Ukraine, which have been at war since February 2022, are currently prepared for such a war.
