A young woman and her baby were injured after a hose from a tanker broke off and doused them with boiling water in the Zlatograd village of Erma Reka, the mayor of the village, Boryana Likova, told BTA. The incident occurred earlier this week.
The incident occurred on a street in the village, while the mother, who lives in Sofia, was walking with her child - a 1-year-old boy. At that time, a driver at a spa hotel in Zlatograd was filling a tanker with mineral water. The hose broke and the boiling water with a temperature of over 88 degrees caused burns to the mother and baby.
The woman was more seriously injured, suffering first, second and third degree burns to her body. The stroller's canopy protected the child from serious burns.
The Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Smolyan announced that an investigation has been initiated into the case.
By order of the mayor of Zlatograd, the use of mineral water from the well in the village of Erma Reka has been suspended until rules are adopted to guarantee its safe use.
The Labor Inspectorate is also conducting an investigation into the case.
The injured woman has already been discharged after treatment in "Pirogov".
