"First of all, I would like to note that the Water Act has a categorical prohibition on the placement of residential and commercial buildings within the water bodies. And for the specific case in Elenite, we conducted a check in the business system of the Basin Directorate, since it is a matter of many years ago, and it turned out that the only investment proposals that have passed the coordination procedure are for several facilities for a local treatment plant. The Basin Directorate has expressed its inadmissibility to these proposals in accordance with the Water Act, said engineer Yavor Dimitrov - director of the Basin Directorate "Black Sea Region".
Namely "for the covering of the ravine and the construction of some of the sites in it, such coordination was not carried out by the Basin Directorate", Dimitrov specified. He also said that in 2009 a signal was received at the Basin Directorate and it was immediately responded to with an on-site inspection.
"It has been established that the ravine has been covered and that construction is underway. The RDNSK and the Nessebar Municipality have been notified.".
Yavor Dimitrov stated that they may impose administrative sanctions for violation of the Water Act.
