From the beginning of the year until the end of September, on the territory of Sofia Municipality, expert committees have placed stickers – prescriptions on over 3,500 motor vehicles that meet the criteria for an end-of-life vehicle, the Sofia Inspectorate reports.
With the amendment to the Regulation of January 8, 2021 and adopted by the Council of Ministers, end-of-life motor vehicles are now considered to be cars that have not passed an annual technical inspection for more than 3 months. So far, the largest number of stickered vehicles has been in the areas of "Krasno Selo", "Poduyane", "Iskar", "Lyulin", "Izgrev" and others.
After the sticker is placed, there is a 3-month period for voluntary removal to private land or transfer to a temporary storage site. We remind you that if this does not happen voluntarily within the statutory period, the cars are forcibly repatriated to a specialized parking lot.
Since the beginning of the year, 397 old cars have been forcibly moved after orders issued by the regional administrations. 421 were moved voluntarily by their owners.
It is important to know that after a sticker is placed, even if the car is moved to another region or the sticker is torn, the procedure continues, as well as for cars with a registration other than Sofia.
We appeal to all owners of such cars to take care of them on time. These unusable vehicles should not be abandoned on municipal land because they hinder citizens, impede parking and municipal activities.
