The state of emergency in Tsarevo has been lifted. This was announced by Mayor Marin Kirov.

All potentially dangerous places have been secured, work is actively underway to assess the damage from the flood on October 3, BNR reports. "A team from the Ministry of Environment and Water has been working in the field in Tsarevo for three days, visiting all 15-20 points, including ravines, troughs, and local floods in Nestinarka and Lozenets.

We expect the official report in 2 weeks, but on the field it was seen that the water comes from outside urbanized areas, from uncorrected ravines on state territory, from old culverts on the main Tsarevo-Burgas road.

It is old and the culverts are not sized for this amount of rain", said the mayor of Tsarevo, who hopes that by the beginning of next summer the damage will be repaired and the city will be able to welcome the next season normally.

The municipality has been paid funds from the previous disaster. The exact figure will be clear next week, but with 1 million leva the municipality will repay old debts to companies that have already carried out repair work, and 2 million leva will be for street repairs.

"The damages from the flood a week ago are much less than those 2 years ago, when they were over 80 million leva, and the state paid 43 million leva. This time the direct damages are about 10 million leva.

There are still unpaid funds from the previous disaster, but I strongly believe that we will find the formula and all over 50-60 million leva will be reimbursed. There is a mixture of old and new damage", added Marin Kirov.

The municipality is ready with an updated project for the reconstruction of the Cherna River bed and will apply with it to the state. It is worth over 20 million leva. Kirov specified that a complete correction of the riverbed along the entire length of the river is needed, not just the part that passes through the city.
