Government has no alternative. The government is working to implement all national priorities set out in the governance program. Stability of the economy and finances, entry into the Eurozone and increasing people's incomes are among our leading tasks. We will not succumb to provocations, despite the opposition's attempts to attack us with various propaganda scandals and forgeries. We have proven that when we have goals, nothing can distract us.
This was stated by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, quoted by dariknews.bg during a meeting with GERB structures from Varna Region, which was attended by mayors and municipal councilors, members and supporters from all municipal organizations, as well as the regional coordinator Ivan Portnih.
Zhelyazkov categorically refuted the opposition's claims that the government's policy has led to the impoverishment of people over the past year. As an example, he emphasized that since the beginning of 2025, the government has paid out 3.7 billion leva more for salaries, pensions and social benefits compared to 2024. “The average salary in the country has increased by 11.6%, and the minimum – by 15.4%, which is significantly ahead of the inflation of 3.6%”, he also said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Bulgaria needs stability and security more than ever. “This understanding is shared by everyone - both the mandate-holder GERB, and our coalition partners, and the ministers. We all share responsibility together and any attempts to belittle the burden of any of us are pointless”, Zhelyazkov emphasized. According to him, important decisions in the state are made in parliament and with great agreement.
Zhelyazkov also noted that the majority was created with difficulty and is maintained with many compromises, because the parties in the coalition are different. “However, we are united by the understanding that our country can no longer be thrown into a spiral of elections that leads to instability in all socio-political spheres”, he also commented. When there is no stable government, all processes in the country stop, and this affects the life of our entire society, the Prime Minister pointed out and gave an example of the suspension of the construction of the "Hemus" motorway, which has been delayed for years and is already twice as expensive.
The Prime Minister also commented on the topic of entering the eurozone. "The decision on our membership is a national goal and the coalition stands behind it. Despite the difficulties with the political propaganda of the opponents of the euro, we must be even more united in the next 2 months," he said and guaranteed that the government will not allow speculative price increases, and the currency change will take place according to all the rules and in the interests of the people.
