It is obvious that there is a garbage crisis in the capital, it should not be denied. This was stated in the studio of “This Saturday and Sunday“ independent municipal councilor in Sofia Vanya Grigorova.
According to her, the emergency garbage collection in “Lyulin“ and “Krasno Selo“ is not effective and cannot be relied on only by volunteers.
“In the SOS, Vasil Terziev said that there is a plan, but we have not heard it. What is visible is that the competition is severely compromised, there I do not have more than one candidate in a zone, which means that there is no competition. Mr. Terziev took a decisive step by stating that he would not accept arm-wrenching and I fully support him, but when you said “A“, you should also say “B“, she commented.
According to her, either the public procurement should be terminated or direct negotiations should be switched to. Municipal Councilor Proshko Proshkov from the GERB-SDF group added that everyone stood behind Mayor Vasil Terziev in his attempt to prevent “arm-wrenching“.
“But when you go against the mafia - you don't go against the Kalashnikovs with a small knife. Namely, you prepare the public procurement on time. There has been a delay of over a year in a procedure that is extremely complicated. We have been holding these talks about the procurement since April 2024 and they are being delayed“, he added.
Grigorova commented that the municipal waste management company “Sofekostroy“ is about to be strengthened. According to her, the 9 million leva allocated to it are extremely insufficient to take on additional areas.
“We support the mayor in his request that he will not bend, we do not support him that he opened the public procurement 10 days before the contracts expire – this is an unacceptable management decision. We created a crisis for ourselves“, Proshkov added.
According to him, Mayor Terziev should seek responsibility from both the deputy mayor in charge of ecology and the evaluation committee of experts. "He received support from the state, he said: 'I don't want it'. The mayor's big fear is to receive support, because receiving support means you have to show competence. The myth that everyone is in his way is a problem for me," he added.
Proshkov raised the alarm that the contracts for snow removal in Sofia have also expired. The municipal councilors were categorical that if Mayor Terziev proposed a good solution to the crisis, it would be supported.
