Assen Vassilev on the vote in Pazardzhik: We saw shameful scenes, we demand the resignation of Daniel Mitov - 1

At a press conference in Pazardzhik, the co-chairman of "We Continue the Change" Assen Vassilev announced that the party is demanding the resignation of the Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov due to the actions of the Ministry of Interior in connection with the elections for municipal councilors in the municipality held yesterday.

In Ognyanovo we witnessed shameful and humiliating scenes, especially for the main personnel of the Ministry of Interior. Daniel Mitov and the Ministry of Interior management betrayed the ordinary police officers. They forbade them to chase away vote buyers, they were not allowed to leave the schoolyards and watched as someone bought votes on the fence. For an hour and a half they were not allowed to open the trunk of a car. We saw the fifty-lev bills broadcast live on the Internet, a whole wad, and then the Ministry of Interior comes out to a press conference and says - there is no crime, these people are businessmen who were looking for workers on election day, said Vassilev.

This is not only scandalous, it is a betrayal of all Bulgarian citizens and all voters in Pazardzhik. What we want is the head of Daniel Mitov. This man has no right to be the country's interior minister. Either he is incompetent, or he does not control the bosses here, or he allowed orders to be issued with which the Ministry of Interior would cover up vote buying, rather than oppose it. Whichever of the three, he has no place in the Ministry of Interior system, especially as a minister, emphasized the chairman of "We Continue the Change".

The election results showed that part of the networks of influence have switched from GERB to MRF. This creates a very serious problem not only for GERB, but for the entire country. A very clear battle is emerging over which direction Bulgaria should go – whether to become a normal European country, with normal incomes and with rules that apply to everyone. The alternative is the country with the capital D, where everything is done with phone calls, in the dark, people hide, do not dare to show their faces because they know that they are doing something bad for all Bulgarian citizens. This great battle of free people against the capital D of MRF was very clearly outlined in these elections in Pazardzhik. And it does not end with these elections, but begins with them, Asen Vassilev pointed out.

"We continue the change" extends a hand to all parties that do not want to allow Pazardzhik and its Municipal Council to be governed by Peevski and DPS-New Beginning. This is an invitation to talk about the good of the citizens of Pazardzhik. If we allow Peevski and New Beginning to govern this city, it will end up like "Lafka" and "Bulgartabac". We are ready to ignore party selfishness, to talk to absolutely everyone, so that Pazardzhik remains in Pazardzhik, and not Peevski takes it over, Vassilev also said.
