The case of the pogrom against the building of the European Commission representation in Sofia begins, BNT reported.
A preliminary hearing is due to be held in the District Court in the capital on the trial against the six defendants in the case.
At the end of July, the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office filed the indictment with the court. According to it, one of the participants banged on the front door, threw a flammable object, and subsequently pushed a police officer, who fell to the ground.
Another man, armed with a wooden pole with a flag, struck the building's windows multiple times and broke a window at the central entrance. The riots broke out in February during a protest against the euro organized by the "Vazrazhdane" party. In the ensuing escalation of tension, protesters began throwing red paint and bombs at the EC representation building in Sofia.
Five of the defendants could receive up to 5 years in prison, and the sixth - up to two and a half years, as he is a minor.
