The "Fire Safety and Population Protection" units have responded to 63 reports of accidents over the past 24 hours, with a total of 37 fires extinguished.
One person died and three were injured in the fires, the Main Directorate of "Fire Safety and Population Protection" – Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on the department's website.
16 fires caused direct material damage, of which eight were in residential buildings, one – in industrial buildings, and seven – in vehicles. 21 fires occurred without causing material damage.
The incident in which a person died occurred yesterday morning. At 8:52 a.m., a signal was received at the “Operational Center” at the RDPBZN - Sofia about a fire in an extension to a house at an address in Botevgrad, "Boyko Bozhilov" Str. The fire was extinguished with one fire truck. An 85-year-old woman died and a 91-year-old man was injured.
During the day, 26 rescue activities and assistance operations were carried out, of which two cases involved accidents in vehicles and two related to drainage. In one case, assistance was provided to a citizen for transportation to a medical facility.
