The US Treasury Department stated that the two largest oil companies in Russia - "Rosneft" and "Lukoil", have been sanctioned in order to harm Moscow in financing the war with Ukraine. How will this affect the market in our country?
„The way out is to change the ownership of „Lukoil". After one month, we will ask for a postponement. We can put pressure on the owner to speed up the ownership transfer procedure. Such a procedure has been going on for a long time“, financier Evgeniy Kanev pointed out on bTV.
“This is a Bulgarian legal entity that operates according to Bulgarian laws and the Bulgarian authorities can put pressure if this company wants to continue operating in Bulgaria“, the expert pointed out.
“Until recently, there were two buyers for "Lukoil" - one, related to the Azerbaijani company “Sukar“, the other is a Turkish holding. If it is Turkey, we have to be very careful, because a monopoly is being sold,“, Kanev also said.
In his words, if we do not prove that the procedure for transferring ownership is underway, sanctions are possible.
"The government has enough leverage to move the procedure forward," the expert also pointed out.
