Residents of Veliko Tarnovo protest against the clouding of drinking water from the Yovkovtsi dam

Residents of Veliko Tarnovo are protesting this afternoon against the continued clouding of drinking water from the "Yovkovtsi" dam, and municipal councilors have notified the prosecutor's office about the problem. The health inspectorate and the water supply company are categorical that the water from the network is not dangerous to people's health.

The protest against the poor quality of drinking water will be held from 5 p.m. in front of the "Mother Bulgaria" monument in the center of Veliko Tarnovo.

Under the slogan "We want clean water that is fit for drinking", people will show their disagreement with the unprecedented problem of unsuitable tap water for the region. Citizens demand water that meets all safety standards. Buying bottled water puts a strain on family budgets.

The municipal councilors' signal to the prosecutor's office requests an investigation into the cause of the turbid water from the "Yovkovtsi" dam and the designation of the person responsible for the problem.

The Health Inspectorate and "Yovkovtsi Water Supply and Sewerage Company" indicated that the water from the dam in the water supply network is not dangerous to human health, the turbidity is improving and the water operator has started flushing the tanks and disinfecting the network. Consumers will not receive compensation for the bad water from the water company.
