The Sofia Municipality has terminated the public procurement for garbage collection in Zone 3, including the Slatina, Poduyane and Izgrev districts, dariknews.bg reported.
This is stated in the position of „Save Sofia“. According to the party, this is an important step towards more transparency and control in the sanitation sector. In this zone, no candidate was allowed to open price offers.
„Although with a delay of four weeks, this decision represents a clear step in the right direction towards more effective and transparent management of the waste management system in the capital“, said Boris Bonev.
In its position, the party states that the current moment provides an opportunity for Sofia to escape from the grip of private interests and illegitimate influence, with the cleaning in these areas being assigned to the municipal Garbage Plant.
“This company is under the direct operational control of the mayor, which would allow for greater accountability and would limit the possibilities for pressure and blackmail on the capital's residents”, Bonev also said.
From the position of “Save Sofia“ it is clear that in parallel with this, the public procurement for the Lyulin and Krasno Selo districts has also been terminated, but the cleaning activities there are already being carried out by the municipal company “Sofekostroy“. A contractor has been selected for the Nadezhda, Ilinden and Serdika districts - the Turkish company “Norm“.
A 10-day period for appealing the decisions is ahead. Given the significant financial volume of the orders, possible appeals are entirely possible, claim the the party.
