Assoc. Prof. Petar Cholakov: I don't see early elections coming, especially after Peevski's harsh words - 1

More money will probably be given in the 2026 budget, there will be more generous payments, especially in the social sphere. Otherwise, the government risks public tension and protests, which is not in their interest. This was stated on NOVA NEWS by political scientist Assoc. Prof. Petar Cholakov, quoted by novini.bg.

According to him, GERB and DPS-New Beginning are the ones who dictate the rules in the coalition, while the BSP and ITN do not have much weight in the government. The political scientist is almost convinced that the left and Slavi Trifonov's party will “pay the price“ for their decision to form a coalition with GERB and DPS-New Beginning.

Cholakov expressed doubts that the budget debates will lead to discord and the fall of the government.

I don't see early elections looming on the horizon, especially after Peevski's harsh words were heard after the elections in Pazardzhik. Whatever Borisov and Peevski had to agree on, they agreed on, said Assoc. Prof. Cholakov.

Regarding the replacement of Natalia Kiselova with Raya Nazaryan at the head of the National Assembly, the analyst stated that this once again proves his thesis that the BSP and ITN are “assistant wheels” in this government, while the real decisions are made by GERB and DPS-New Beginning.

In addressing PP-DB, the political scientist expressed the opinion that the coalition “has lost its way“.

“Everyone is tired of the topic of corruption and Peevski. Not everything can be explained only by Peevski. They need to expand their platform and talk about other things,“ believes Assoc. Prof. Cholakov.
