Residents of the Sofia "Lyulin" neighborhood protested. The reason is the garbage crisis, which has been going on for nearly a month. The protesters blocked traffic at the intersection of "Tsaritsa Yoana" Blvd. and "Petar Dertliev" Blvd., Nova TV reports.
For more than an hour and a half, traffic was stopped, even though the municipality had announced that the protest would be held on the sidewalk. The gathered people demanded the resignation of the district mayor Georgi Todorov, as well as the capital mayor - Vasil Terziev, because the bins in the neighborhood continued to overflow. For their part, the municipality claims that garbage collection has already been normalized, especially in “Lyulin”.
According to Radi Milanov, who is one of the organizers, the promises have not been fulfilled. "We heard lies and excuses. The bins are overflowing, at night there was an action to collect garbage with trucks from other districts. The goal is to clean up a little before the protest, to blind our eyes, but this is not a long-term solution, but for one night. We do not trust the mayor, so we will gather for a protest. People who want to live in a clean city will come. Online groups close to the PP have launched attacks," he said shortly before the event began.
„We are moving towards a permanent improvement of the situation in the „Lyulin” area. Today there were 7 large and 6 small trucks on the ground. In „Krasno Selo” at the moment, the 8th and 9th sectors of all the sectors we have - zh.k. „Borovo“ and zh.k. „Belite brezi“ - have not been cleaned. The assurance is that this will be done by nightfall. We know about the protest today in „Lyulin”. In one form or another, some organizers have one or another connection with parties represented in the SOS”, said Nadezhda Bobcheva, deputy mayor for ecology in the Sofia Municipality.
