For the first nine months of this year, the Ministry of Interior registered nearly 5% fewer shoplifting incidents than for the same period last year, the ministry reported, quoted by BTA. From the beginning of 2025 to the end of September, there were 4,942 thefts, while for the same period in 2024 there were 5,173.
The detection rate of this type of crime is quite high, the Ministry of Interior also indicated. The number of solved shoplifting cases from January 1 to the end of September 2025 is slightly over 74%, with many cases still under investigation. For the same period last year, they are nearly 72%.
The statistics for home and burglary thefts also show a decrease of about 13%.
The Ministry of Interior calls on victims of crime to promptly report them to the police.
