The MP from "Continuing Change - Democratic Bulgaria" (PP-DB) Yordan Ivanov sharply criticized the new budget, stating that the state currently resembles a family that "runs on quick loans". He commented on this on NOVA.
Ivanov announced that the PP-DB has at least three specific demands for the state's financial framework.
The first demand is that the state administration be reduced by 15%. The second is that the employees in the Ministry of Interior, who are already of retirement age, be dismissed. The third proposal is for civil servants to start paying their own insurance.
According to Yordan Ivanov, the reason for the need for layoffs in the administration is related to GERB's rule over the years.
"Over the years, GERB has raised an administration that votes for them, that's why we want layoffs," he explained.
The MP commented that the government's financial program represents a "blow against the middle class" in Bulgaria. In his words, in practice, she will bear the brunt of the new salary increases in state structures.
Ivanov rejected the claims that the set parameters are a consequence of the budgets of former Finance Minister Assen Vassilev.
"The goal of the budget is to spend on a large scale next year, without making any reforms... The former Finance Minister cannot be to blame for everything," the MP also commented.
