"Save Sofia": The worst prediction comes true - 1

“Unfortunately, our worst fears have come true and the cleaning of Sofia will be greatly complicated at least in the next few months. Today, the decision of the Sofia Municipality to terminate the orders for "Lyulin", "Krasno Selo", "Poduyane", "Slatina" and "Izgrev" has been appealed. Thus, until the court rules on the appeal, Sofia will not be able to directly award or conclude other contracts for the same zones,“ said Boris Bonev, leader of "Save Sofia" and added:

„The result of this is that the garbage crisis will deepen, since the municipal capacity, which is insufficient for three districts, will have to be divided into 6. In addition to garbage collection, Sofia also lacks equipment for snow removal, and the same fate will probably befall 12 other districts by the end of the year“.

"Save Sofia" reminded that it was no coincidence that they warned a year ago that the order for cleanliness should be issued early enough to have time for all the tricks that people with nicknames will try to play. Today, the delay in issuing the order will cost Sofia residents dearly – we will welcome the New Year with a garbage crisis not in 2, but in 5 districts with a total population of over 500,000 people. And after the New Year – in almost all of Sofia.

"Save Sofia" continues to insist that it is right for the Sofia Municipality to urgently increase and strengthen the capacity of the Municipal Garbage Plant so that it can take over the cleaning of more of the capital's districts. “The delay that Mayor Terziev allowed is inexcusable. The pat on the back that everything is fine, there is no crisis and everyone who is worried is just an alarmist, are the words of a person who clearly does not understand what kind of mafia he is dealing with. Mafiosi who have the entire state apparatus behind them to help them if it is decided that Sofia residents will be punished.“ – also commented from "Save Sofia".

“We expect the mayor, when he returns from sunny Brazil, to say what is next. Yes, the awards are a nice recognition, but returning with an eco award to a city that is counting the hours until an ecological disaster is hardly something that can be thrown at the feet of someone else who is specifically to blame.“ – Bonev noted.
