Kostadinov: This budget is extremely harmful for Bulgaria - 1

"This budget is catastrophic!", said the chairman of "Vazrazhdane" Kostadin Kostadinov at a briefing in the National Assembly, highlighting the planned new indebtedness of the state by at least 21 billion leva. In total for the last two years, it is over 40 billion leva.

„This year alone, the state is going into debt by 52 million leva per day, and next year - by 60 million. This is the price that every Bulgarian pays for entering the so-called club of the rich“, he said.

According to him, with this budget, the government is not only deepening the debt spiral, but it was also prepared in violation of the established legal and procedural requirements.

„This budget is sinfully conceived, because it was supposed to be adopted by the Council of Ministers by October 21, and in the end it was submitted in early November - without public discussion, without coordination with institutions and industry organizations. This is a gross violation of practice and transparency,“ said the chairman of “Vazrazhdane“.

Kostadinov cited data according to which 87% of Bulgarians live with incomes below 3,000 leva, and “to claim that the country is entering the club of the rich is a joke on the people“, he said, criticizing Christine Lagarde's words and adding that she is “a proven criminal, convicted in 2016 for corruption on a particularly large scale”. He also emphasized that in the European Union the poverty threshold is 1,500 euros.

“This budget is extremely harmful for Bulgaria. A budget that we will not support. We have our own proposals that we will submit,” said Kostadin Kostadinov.

The chairman of “Vazrazhdane“ also commented on the ruling majority's decision to reject their proposal to hear the chairman of the Fiscal Council, Simeon Dyankov. The reason for the proposal was Dyankov's interview with BNT with extremely worrying admissions about the state of the financial system and the actions of the ruling party on the road to the eurozone. Kostadinov cited key moments from the interview on October 30, in which Dyankov spoke about “hiding the deficit“, “hiding data“ and postponing decisions on increasing salaries in order to meet the criteria for the eurozone.

“These are not just confessions, but descriptions of criminal practices that must be verified by the prosecutor's office. In Greece, the head of statistics went to prison for similar actions,“ said Kostadinov.

According to him, if Dyankov's words are confirmed, Bulgaria will be placed under an excessive deficit procedure in 2027, which means “foreign management of national finances by the European Central Bank“, Kostadinov expressed concerns.

He described the government's actions as criminal against national interests, and the refusal to listen to Simeon Dyankov - as an attempt to conceal the truth.

“It is obvious that the ruling majority has been exhausted. Peevski is ruling, and Borisov is helping him. They are buying time for themselves while trading with the future of our children,“ he said.

Regarding the appointment of a special manager at “Lukoil“, Kostadinov believes that such a manager would be appointed by Delyan Peevski and would push his companies through the company.
