There will be increased police checks during the weekends in the areas of border crossings and border zones, said Commissioner Maria Boteva, Deputy Head of the "Traffic Police" Department at the Main Directorate "National Police", in connection with the measures taken on the roads in the coming days.
She attended a ceremony on the occasion of November 8 – the professional holiday of the Bulgarian police.
From today until Sunday, the most checks will be on the Danube Bridge near Ruse, on the Danube Bridge 2 near Vidin, "Kulata", "Kapitan Andreevo" and "Dragoman", Boteva said. She indicated that in these areas, checks will be carried out on both Bulgarian and foreign citizens, and electronic tickets and penalty notices will be issued.
According to her, in the second ten days of November, the police's efforts will be focused on controlling pedestrians.
We continue with the controls, regardless of the fact that we have ten days with certain accents, anyone found in violation will be held accountable, Boteva added.
