Traycho Traykov on the "Lukoil" case: A special manager seems like the right move

If "Lukoil" closes, a large amount of produced fuels, which have the lowest costs for reaching the consumer, will disappear from the market. This is a problem because they have to be compensated for in a short time with imports, which always changes the balance between demand and supply, hence the price. But it is not necessary to reach such a situation at all, the former minister added.

Traycho Traykov on the "Lukoil" case: A special manager seems like the right move - 1

This seems like the right move, because it looks like an effort to continue the refinery's operations. Things come down to the refinery continuing to produce fuels for the Bulgarian market. This was said in "Face to Face" on bTV by the mayor of the capital region "Sredets" and former Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Traycho Traykov about the introduction of a special manager for "Lukoil" after the American sanctions against the company, quoted by novini.bg.

The discussion is mainly focused on the part that allows for the use of assets. This is extremely thin legal ice. Maybe now the law will allow it, but in the future, when there are no sanctions, it will not be looked upon favorably by the owner of "Lukoil" and there are huge risks for us, said Traykov.

If "Lukoil" closes, a large amount of produced fuels will disappear from the market, which have the lowest costs for reaching the consumer. This is a problem because they must be compensated for in a short time with imports, which always changes the balance between supply and demand, hence the price. But it is not necessary to reach such a situation at all, added the former minister.

The purpose of the sanctions is to prevent the funds from the operation of these assets from going to the war in Ukraine, but this does not mean that the assets should not be operated. The funds can be collected somewhere and after the sanctions are completed, they can be handed over to the owner, Traycho Traykov pointed out.

"Lukoil" is also the largest collector of taxes and assets in our country and this will also be a challenge for our financial administration, he noted.

The mayor of the Sofia district "Sredets" explained that the region is now preparing for the expiring contracts for waste collection.

The Sofia Municipality has created an algorithm for action. I have made efforts to have a reserve capacity of trucks and people that can be added in case of need to what the Sofia Municipality is doing, Traykov said.

The district mayor is categorical that the decision not to conclude contracts with waste collection companies at double prices is correct. This does not seem right and reasoned to me, emphasized Traycho Traykov.
