It is already mid-November and we have not received a budget. We do not know if and when it will be received. The Ministry of Finance continues to be in a permanent budget crisis. This was said by Nikolay Vassilev, former Deputy Prime Minister, in the program "Face to Face" on bTV.
He said that yesterday the Minister of Finance "boycotted" an event of the financial sector. "Over 300 financial professionals stated that 100% support entering the eurozone, but 0% of them support the now proposed budget of debts and deficits. For me, no one in the entire society supports this budget and everyone is confused about what it is and why", added Vassilev.
Nikolay Vassilev expressed the opinion that The budget for next year is not supported by any of the parliamentary groups of the majority. "It will be voted on, but in private conversations I have not met a deputy who even slightly likes this budget. There is silence and absence. There is deep disappointment and surprise at what is happening", he said. And he added: If I were a minister or a deputy in this situation, I would vote against it and resign.
Vassilev also revealed where the money for bonuses in the administration comes from. "The money comes from the fact that when there are vacant positions, and there are at least 10,000 of them, every year, the departments do not return them to the budget, but distribute them to themselves. They also find a way to distribute other funds that have not been spent. The state is in a mode of spending at maximum. Politicians believe that the more they spend, the better. However, I believe that the state should switch to a mode of maximum savings, and not spending", he also pointed out.
According to him, the eurozone and Budget 2026 have nothing in common. Bravo to this government that after 15 years we entered the eurozone. Politicians can be financially irresponsible with or without the eurozone. Now they want to be even more financially irresponsible. But in my opinion, the two things have nothing in common, explained Vassilev.
