Dobromir Ivanov, BESCO: 5,500 leva per year have disappeared from a family's budget - 1

The budget enters the parliament in the form in which the majority approves it without conducting the so-called tripartite.

„This is a very bad signal. In the Bulgarian language, we sometimes have a poverty of words, because the expression „civil servants“, „state officials“, which we also call politicians, is quite wrong. The English expression - public servants - is much better and it is good to remind more often that politicians and the entire administration, institutions - they are public servants. And in fact, being servants, they operate with the money that we give them. They do not have their own money“.

This was commented on in „This Morning“ Dobromir Ivanov, Executive Director of BESCO.

„The one who gives the money is the one who is the boss, figuratively speaking, and it is quite ridiculous the situation in which the connection between those to whom we give money to serve our interests and what they do for us is lost,“ he pointed out.

How much would we receive if 4,000 leva was our salary in 2020 - compared to the then financial framework, and now - 2026 again?

„This is a very simple calculation, which is only a consequence of political decisions - what happens to our money. Literally how the money flies out of our pockets - only with decisions that concern the budget“, pointed out Dobromir Ivanov.

„That is why all these people who say – "politics don't interest me," "I don't feel like going to elections," "it doesn't matter." Just as you don't feel like going to elections and it doesn't matter, so almost every year, a sum is simply taken from your pocket through changes made to the budget," he explained and pointed out that these are mainly changes related to insurance.

“This is the raising of the maximum insurance threshold and now - the raising of the insurance burden itself. We calculated the latter - vigilant citizens, together with artificial intelligence, made a calculator, which you also reflected, on a 2026 salary. Everyone can see for themselves from their current salary how much money will disappear for next year," commented Dobromir Ivanov.

“This is 232 leva per month. This amounts to over 2,700 leva per person per year. If it's a family with two employees, this means that about 5,500 leva have more or less disappeared from the family budget," he explained.

“This money has absolutely been taken out of your pocket“, he is categorical.

“Our big criticism of us, and of many other people, is that there are no improvements in services. A person who is usually in the light - pays for everything, a young person, takes care of children, a family, and this money instead of taking care of his family, the state takes it from him. And on the other hand, our children go to private kindergartens because there are no places. We go to private schools because the service that education offers us is simply terrible. Private doctors because we know what healthcare is like. We take care of our parents because the pension system is a bit dysfunctional and we have to take care of them. We see the roads - what roads we drive on, the sidewalks, when you have a child and push a stroller, you see what they are like. Everything that we expect the state to give us in exchange for the money we give it is in a horrific state," Dobromir Ivanov pointed out.
