We do not want to become accomplices in this disastrous budget. This was announced to BNT by Vasil Velev from AIKB.
Hristina Hristova, former Minister of Social Affairs, said: “I had hoped that 2026 would be the deadline for us to really get ourselves in order, using the entry into the eurozone. Obviously, in the last 4 years the expenditure part has increased so much - pensions, wages, social payments, but nothing was related to either productivity or investments.”
”Who is this budget good for? For a few hundred thousand on budget support - for the security forces, in higher education, in the court and the prosecutor's office. Everyone else is harmed because they will pay more insurance premiums. The budget could be much better“, Velev believes.
“I know quite a few administrations in which there are quite a few vacant positions, competitions are constantly announced and either no one applies, or young people come and leave in the third month. Hopefully this is the last budget in which we will do the automatic process of increasing salaries. The average salary is no criterion, even for the minimum wage”, added Hristova.
According to Velev, salaries in the state administration are being increased where they are already high. He added that one employee in the Ministry of Internal Affairs costs taxpayers 7,000 leva per month.
