From the outside we look quite confused. Someone has to take responsibility, including for the budget. This is the first time I see a budget announced and people stating that they don't like it. This was stated by the former Minister of Labor and Social Policy Ivaylo Kalfin in the program “From the Day“ on BNT.
The budget is not important with the numbers, but with the policies that can be expected from politicians. Instead of taking responsibility, the government is hiding, he added.
The expectations for growth are for 3%, which is good, but we wish it were faster. We are paying the price for two years of political chaos. However, we do not see leadership in the government. All this uncertainty affects investor interest, Kalfin explained.
There are policies in the budget, but there are no reforms and prospects, he pointed out.
The bonuses in the administrations are terribly annoying. This is an unacceptable practice. We can see an increase in salaries in certain sectors, such as in “Security“. The explanation must be – what is being done for society in this sector, the former Minister of Social Affairs pointed out.
When employers cannot provide a normal salary in the face of a labor shortage, it indicates bad economic conditions, said Ivailo Kalfin.
When asked if it is time to move towards changing the tax system, Kalfin said: This is unfair. With the flat tax, people with lower incomes are taxed much more proportionally. At the moment, even the low tax is managed by the fact that large investments are coming. The decision to increase taxes should be part of a longer-term policy of the cabinet.
