We are surprised by the intention of the Municipal Election Commission (MEC) in Varna to convene an extraordinary meeting on Sunday, the aim of which is obviously the removal of Mayor Blagoimir Kotsev, said the co-chairman of the "Yes, Bulgaria" movement Ivaylo Mirchev to journalists at the BTA National Press Club in Burgas. The co-chairman of "Yes, Bulgaria" indicated that they learned about the planned meeting late last night.
We have no doubt that the ruling duo Boyko Borisov – Delyan Peevski is behind this. In his words, "the whole operation" aims for Kotsev to no longer be mayor and to call for elections in Varna.
He added that "Yes, Bulgaria" is calling on citizens to go to the sports hall in Varna, where the MEC meeting will be held.
What we want is justice, if someone has made a mistake, for the court to judge. But keeping someone in solitary confinement, with sick people, in the cold, is not civilized, he said.
Mirchev said that if a campaign for by-elections is called for, "we will participate even more united". If anyone thinks that this will break us, they are very wrong, he commented.
Mirchev described the budget as "possibly the weakest since the time of Videnov".
Everyone feels it - in Burgas, in Sofia. Raising taxes, social security contributions, a huge new debt that Bulgaria will take on next year, he said. Mirchev stressed that the maximum social security income is increasing significantly above what was previously announced.
Social security contributions are being raised by 10%, not by 2 percentage points, as many people say. Obviously, the goal is clear – to have a budget that leaves a lot to steal, said Mirchev.
He pointed out that no one from GERB, nor the prime minister, has defended the budget, which, according to Mirchev, is logical because "the budget is bad and harmful to the country".
The social dialogue has been destroyed, business has in no way supported the budget, said the co-chairman of "Yes, Bulgaria".
Mirchev pointed out that he is in the Burgas region on the occasion of the reorganization of the local organization of "Yes, Bulgaria" in Nessebar. According to him, this is part of the strategy for preparing for the upcoming local elections.
Extremely active, young people, citizens. We are reorganizing and establishing new local structures throughout the country - dozens in recent months alone. We believe that the local elections are the most important moment. That is where the power is taken, he declared.
