A 60-year-old man died in an accident on the road between the village of Lyatno and the "Kus" neighborhood of the town of Kaolinovo, the press center of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Shumen reported.
A report of the traffic accident was filed at 11:20 a.m. at the operational duty unit of the police in Shumen. Police, fire, and emergency medical teams were sent to the scene.
According to initial data, a passenger car with a Shumen registration, driven by a 60-year-old man from the town of Kaolinovo, left the roadway to the left and hit a tree. The driver died on the spot, and a 61-year-old woman traveling in the car was transported to the hospital in Shumen for examinations and medical assistance.
An inspection is being carried out at the scene of the road accident. Drivers are advised to drive with increased caution on this section of the road, the police in Shumen added.
Police officers detained five drivers who were driving with over 1.4 per mille of alcohol in the Shumen region from November 21 to 23. One of the drunk drivers overturned the car he was driving into a fence of a property in the Velikopreslav village of Dragoevo.
Over 70 thousand violations were established from the beginning of the year to the end of October this year on the roads in the Shumen region - 15 thousand more than in the same period last year.
