The leader of "Velichie" Ivelin Mihaylov described the Anti-Corruption Commission's action as "harassment". On the air of "The Day Begins" he commented on the searches carried out yesterday at numerous addresses in the country, related to the activities around "Historical Park".
Yesterday, the prosecutor's office stated that the investigation is about an organized criminal group operating throughout the country in the period from 2013 to 2025. It is about embezzlement, fraud and money laundering. The pre-trial proceedings were initiated on December 9 last year and are being conducted by the Anti-Corruption Commission. From his words it became clear that his accountant was detained.
Mikhailov stated that he personally did not attend the protests last night in order to avoid tension:
„When protests are organized by ‘Continuing Change’ or ‘Justice for Everyone’, conflict often ensues. There are supporters who do not welcome me. In order to avoid provocations, our party officially called for us to support the protest, but without posting.“
According to him, deputies from „Velichy“ were among the protesters as „ordinary citizens“.
"Our deputies were there, without shouting, without posting. There was even one bad incident - Our MP Katincharova, MECH supporters and Radostin Vassilev may have said “come on, march, your place is not here”.
Regarding the action against him, Mihaylov stated:
“The media is very incorrectly releasing information that a kind of party “Velichye“ is engaged in property fraud, for which we will sue them. There is a law in which it can be clearly checked whether the party “Velichye“ is buying and selling real estate, whether there is a transaction of capital that is in some way different from the main activity. And if this is not true, every media outlet that has spread this news, that is trying to tarnish our image, will be condemned", he said.
He stressed that he has never had access to municipal or state funds. According to Mihaylov, he was visited by representatives of the Communist Party of Bulgaria before the scandal:
„I had a meeting with two Communist Party of Bulgaria employees who said either you go to the government. Here I want to note that, because most people put Peevski and Borisov as one, they are one mafia party. These two people wanted us to support them. That's what they told us then. In my opinion, what they want – they need 160 votes to elect the Supreme Judicial Council.
From his words it became clear that during yesterday's action his accountant was detained.
„ Currently, my accountant, who is diabetic, is detained, he is insulin-dependent. No one cares whether he is insulin-dependent or not. They entered his apartment, which has 2 rooms, as well as the lawyer's apartment, which has 2 rooms, they found 0 leva in one apartment, they found 0 leva in the lawyer's as well. When they entered, the search ended at 10 o'clock, they stayed until 5-6 o'clock to bother their families and say isn't it time for you to step down and other things. This is harassment," said Mihaylov.
According to the MP, his immunity will be taken away:
"They will take away my immunity. I will not give it because the Prosecutor General is illegitimate, so that I can convict them later," said Evelin Mihaylov.
