The draft budget for 2026 will be withdrawn and revised. This was announced to journalists by the leader of GERB Boyko Borissov.
I told the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance to withdraw the budget or find a legal form, because it was adopted on first reading, until the dialogue with the Tripartite is restored and until everyone understands how it will be managed in the coming years, we will work with the old budget, said the Chairman of GERB Boyko Borissov to journalists in the National Assembly.
"How many times have I told you that I don't like this budget? And that's why in a little while the Prime Minister and the House Council – as I call it, will tell you what I have decided. I gathered the House Council, the supporting parties, the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister as the mandate holder this morning, and I told them this budget is being withdrawn," he added.
"Until the dialogue with the Tripartite is restored, until everyone sits down and understands how it will be managed in the coming years, we will work with the old budget. As you remember, Assen Vassilev did not accept a budget until August, so there is nothing fatal," he added.
When asked by "Focus" why they decided to withdraw the budget now after it was adopted by a committee, he replied:
"Even if one person protests - I try to hear what I say. I have worked with dialogue for decades," he said.
