After the torrential rains in the Southwest, there are now 4 municipalities that have declared a state of emergency - Petrich, Sandanski, Simitli and Strumyani. Here is a picture from one of the most affected settlements - Novo Delchevo.
Water enters Sevda Gramatikova's home while the woman is in the bathroom.
"I turn around to get the bucket and rag, to start collecting, and it suddenly starts coming out of the toilet bowl like a fountain. There's nothing I can do, I close the bathroom door, I tell myself that at least it's only there - I turn around, and there was already water everywhere on the floor. By the time I went upstairs, the floor was already knee-deep," Sevda Gramatikova told BTV.
The losses for the family are huge - new furniture and electrical appliances worth thousands of leva have been destroyed.
"I have nothing! The clothes that were only mine - pajamas, which I was wearing to sleep. I got everything wet and I had nothing to wear. The clothes I am wearing right now are from my sister, from the neighbor with a jacket", said Sevda Gramatikova.
Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov also went to the scene, and insisted on 24-hour monitoring of the watersheds in the area. People continue to doubt that there is a leaked dam in the area.
"We sent a question to the state enterprise "Irrigation Systems", which replied that the adjacent dams near Novo Delchevo are not the cause of the major flood", said Atanas Stoyanov, mayor of Sandanski. After the situation calmed down, a special commission will begin to inspect and inventory the damage, from Municipality of Sandanski.
