It is unlikely that what the employers insist on in the 2026 Budget will be implemented 100%, but if steps are taken in this direction, it will be useful for the state. This was said by the former Minister of Energy and MP Miroslav Sevlievski in the program "Bulgaria, Europe and the World in Focus" on Radio "Focus".

According to him, over the past ten years the tripartite dialogue has been formal. "A large part of the employers today are the result of the GERB government in the last 15 years – they are obliged and have always agreed with everything that GERB has proposed. The unions have also always been quite accommodating throughout the years", said Sevlievski.

"Currently we are witnessing political babaitlik, not a competition of ideas and a search for perspective", he said. Sevlievski expressed hope that Bulgaria will have a budget by Christmas and that politicians will fulfill their obligations – to bring the country into the eurozone and complete the modernization process of the last 35 years. "Let's hope that this budget will not turn into a battle and that the enemy will not necessarily be sought to be killed, but rather a budget will be sought that will bring us into the euro and preserve public trust in the state. That is. The budget must be fair, people must believe that these taxes and expenses are fair. Political tomahawks must be buried so that a budget is adopted that is adequate to today's challenges, to changing geopolitics, to new generations and new challenges, a budget of construction and survival, and not a budget of public and state waste“, he emphasized.

The big topic in the public debate and protests is how the state's money is spent. “Unfortunately, society has many question marks. It does not believe a single number, it does not trust anyone. Waste in finances leads to a waste of public energy and public trust. This is the big problem“, Sevlievski pointed out.

With Budget 2026, the 30-year practice of budget discipline has been violated. "The last 30 years have been spent tightening our belts so that we don't leave our children with large debts. That was the vow we kept," the guest said.
