The Joint Management Council is meeting in an extraordinary session at 12:00 at a session in the National Assembly, the government confirmed, Nova TV reports.
The extraordinary meeting comes after the Council of Ministers proposed to the National Assembly to adopt a decision to withdraw the Draft Law on the State Budget for 2026. This took place at an absentee meeting of the government. With the same decision, the draft laws on the budgets of the NHIF and the DOO are also withdrawn.
The government's proposal has already been sent to the National Assembly. After the parliament's decision, the cabinet will launch a new budget procedure.
However, the cabinet cannot in practice withdraw the budget because it was voted on at first reading in the plenary hall, and the small fiscal frameworks - of the Social Insurance Institution and the National Health Insurance Fund - at second reading in the Budget Committee. In such a case, the rules provide for a vote in the National Assembly. The submitter of the bill can withdraw it until the start of the first vote, and then - only by a decision of the parliament.
