Despite some delays in garbage collection in "Slatina" and other districts, according to the Sofia Municipality, it is going well after the expiration of contracts with private companies. A temporary organization was introduced in three more districts as of Monday.
The municipality is trying to prevent more serious crises for the time being, reported Deputy Mayor for Environmental Affairs Nadezhda Bobcheva.
She described the situation in the "Poduyane" district as good, since the area has been cleaned up, while in "Slatina" there is garbage to be collected in one third of the area.
"And what I have talked to my colleagues from the "Izgrev" area is that they already have three large trucks and from tomorrow they will also start regular garbage collection and transportation in their area."
The "Levski V" and "Levski G" neighborhoods are fully serviced, while in "Suhata Reka" and "Hadzhi Dimitar" garbage collection has been more delayed, but the municipality said that they are getting back into rhythm.
Half of the "Slatina" area has been serviced at least once, said the mayor of the region, Georgi Iliev, expressing hope that a satisfactory level of garbage collection will be achieved within a week and adding that there is a need for volunteers who collect separately.
