The Ministry of Interior has hit rock bottom and continues to dig down.
This was commented on the show "RadioTochka" by the former head of the Specialized Counter-Terrorism Unit (SOBT), Gen. Krasimir Petrov, who held various leadership positions in the Ministry of Interior.
"There must be someone to take responsibility. To stand in front and say that what he says must be done".
According to him, the police did not prevent the vandalism on the evening after the protest of thousands on December 1 because the leadership wanted to play it safe:
"They preferred that there be material damage, but no human casualties. And that everything be paid for. ... The people had enough of this government and came out, but in a peaceful protest, and this handful of hooligans were welcome to hide among the crowd and take their vandalism. ... They may have been organized and deliberately brought into the protest to discredit it. The goal is to provoke an excess, to show: "Here you see who we are! We will fix this country with force".
In his words, these were football hooligans who were looking for any excuse to clash with the police:
"If the colleagues had organized themselves to go and surround them... If you are a leader, you have to lead them. There is a director of the Police, a director of the SDVR. I am not familiar with who was assigned the plan to implement it. ... The police know very well who they are and could recognize them".
According to Gen. Petrov, the opposition has "died everywhere":
"Look at them, they cannot organize themselves to make a common position and unite. They are an eagle, a crab and a pike. The rulers welcome this".
