"A budget is a public contract — quite voluminous and important. As in contracts - we must carefully read what is written in the small print. Therefore, until we read it and carefully see what is included inside - I cannot comment on it. At a quick glance at some parameters, I saw that they have been significantly changed. But a more in-depth comment can be made after we review the project in depth". He stated this in “Wake up” on Nova TV acad. Nikolay Denkov from PP-DB on the occasion of the draft budget for next year published by the Ministry of Finance late on Friday.
When asked if there is a possibility that after reading the budget, the PP-DB will withdraw their request for the resignation of the "Zhelyazkov" cabinet, Denkov was categorical that this cannot happen. And he pointed out two reasons.
"The first is that this is a public contract. And there must be trust in it that the other side will work honestly. In addition to the numbers that we most often discuss, the second problem in the budgets — for both 2025 and 2026 — is the transparency of what the money is spent on. And this is missing in the plan-accounts that GERB presents for 2025 and 2026. So, in addition to the numbers, we must also look at how transparently these funds are used," he stressed.
And he added that to the question of whether, regardless of what is written in this budget, the request for resignation will remain, the short answer is: "Yes". "Because with these actions of the ruling party, we see that the ruling party, especially from the National Assembly, is constantly trying to push some surprises. Trust has been broken. Therefore, this way of governing must be punished — it must receive a political red card so that it is clear that it cannot be governed this way," Denkov said.
Regarding when the vote of no confidence, which the coalition submitted on Friday, can be considered, he explained that according to the rules of the National Assembly, this can happen on any day between Tuesday and Friday. "So we expect the Speaker of the National Assembly to say when it will be considered", he pointed out.
And he expressed hope that the vote of no confidence will be supported by everyone who realizes that "in this way, people cannot be lied to and funds constantly be diverted — and on a huge scale". "My clear and categorical opinion is that we need elections that will re-establish the National Assembly as a body and the social contract with which the next rulers can gain the trust of the people. This trust is currently broken", Denkov is categorical.
Regarding the protest prepared by the PP-DB, he emphasized that it has been announced for Wednesday. "If they change the day for considering the vote of no confidence - it is possible that this day will be changed".
