Rumen Hristov: The street cannot demand the resignation of political leaders - 1

"We, as the heirs of Bai Ganyo, always try to outwit", said the leader of the UDF, Rumen Hristov, on the air of NOVA, commenting on the election process and the recent protests in the country.

However, in his words, this behavior should not be transferred to political life, because "the street cannot demand the resignation of political leaders". Hristov emphasized that there are always alternatives, but the question is what they are and whether they are better for the state.

"It is not good to end in blood. This is not the way to resolve socio-political contradictions," said Hristov, who admitted that for the first time the protests were directed against him personally. "I don't feel comfortable - a fact. But that's the situation. There is a democratic form - you vote, and whoever gets the most votes forms the government," he said.

The leader of the UDF emphasized that the task of political parties is to provide active advocates during the elections, which makes manipulations in the sections practically impossible. "When the big parties have their people everywhere, it is very difficult to persuade the commission", he said and insisted on civic activity in the election process.

Hristov also commented on the political ambitions of the head of state, stating that "President Rumen Radev is in a hurry to enter the political scene and take all the power". According to him, in recent years Radev has governed through a series of caretaker cabinets and is now playing the role of "a divider, not a unifier".

The leader of the UDF stressed the need for a regular government, especially in the first months after Bulgaria entered the Eurozone. According to him, the main goal of the ruling majority of 135 deputies is now to withstand the upcoming vote of no confidence and adopt the budget. "It is better to have a regular budget, although management with 1/12 is also possible. But this is not the best option", said Hristov.
